Our Company

Paul Moran Financial Planning commenced operation in December 2001. From humble beginnings as a sole practitioner practice, it has grown into a multi-adviser practice highly recognised within the industry.

Importantly, all advisers and support staff in the business operate under the same value system and work ethic.

We are passionate about the value of Financial Planning to people's lives. We like to think that we are able to create some calm in the financial chaos in which many people find themselves.

We are about earning your trust through providing advice that you find valuable. Our skill is in looking at your circumstances from the outside in, and providing recommendations to improve your financial security.

Our hope is that you see value in our advice in more than just a purely financial sense. We want to provide you with the peace of mind that comes with sound long term investment decisions.

We actively seek continuing education opportunities and are at the top of our profession. Our technical knowledge comes from formal training and education, as well as our long term experience in this field.

We will actively seek out new opportunities through attendance at industry forums and thorough reading of the vast amounts of literature that is provided within the industry.

We believe in public education and offer regular seminars. Our Principal, Paul Moran, is regularly quoted in the Australian Financial Review, the Australian, the Melbourne Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. He has a regular column in the financial review lift-out in the Sunday Age and Sunday SMH. He is a sought after speaker at various expo's and industry forums.

We want our company to be synonymous with quality, trusted advice. We want to become a profitable firm which gives something back to the community. We are available to provide education to schoolchildren and the disadvantaged. We want to develop a brand of Financial Planning that is highly regarded by the community.

We want to differentiate ourselves from the group of financial planners who operate in a commission based, sales driven manner. We are not like them.

What makes us different?

Our approach to Financial Planning is strategically based; that is, we develop solutions to place our clients in their best possible lifestyle position. The selection of products is very much a secondary decision. We will seek out the best value method of achieving your goals and are constantly discussing new products with providers to re-evaluate our decisions.

We determine strategies that are:

  • Flexible
  • Inflation protected
  • Yield focussed
  • Tax efficient
  • Best value
  • Focussed on the achievement of all your goals
Our office has made a decision to operate on a primarily fee for service basis. That is, we charge you for the work and the advice that we provide, rather than charging you based purely on how much money you have to invest.
You will notice in the attached Financial Services Guide that many advisers, even within the Cameron Walshe groups, will be remunerated based on commissions earned from products they have recommended.

Paul Moran Financial Planning has explicitly opted out of the Cameron Walshe remuneration structure that pays differential commissions for parent owned products.

We prefer not to receive commissions that are not directed in consultation with the client. In certain products, however, there is little choice but to receive fees in the form of commissions. These circumstances are generally for fixed rate investments, retail investments or life insurance, where a brokerage fee is built into the premium charged by the provider.

In any case, we will always fully disclose the fees received, and put your best interests first in our product selection process. Under no circumstances will we choose a product because of an increased benefit to us.
